Cucunci are the fruit of the Sicilian caper plant, larger and fleshier than capers. They are preserved in a brine of water and salt.

Their flavour is intense and slightly sharp. Drain them and serve with aperitifs, in a salad, with a fish carpaccio or a plate of cold meats.
